Boys Basketball Outlook

Nate Vera begins his 3rd season as Head Coach

West Palm Beach, FL- Nate Vera believes that 2015-2016 will be an historic season, as he enters his third year as the head coach of the Forest Hill High School Boys Basketball program. Anchored by the most productive offseason since Vera has been the head of the program, Vera believed the summer was crucial to competing in district 7A-13, one of the toughest in the state of Florida. "In order to stay competitive you need to be focused on the upcoming season all year long. I think over the past few years we have built a level of respect for Forest Hill with the other schools in the district, which was nonexistent in past years. Now, we need to transistion that respect into fear of The Hill".

The Falcons will open the 2015-2016 season with games against King's Academy, Olympic Heights, and Boyton Beach; all of whom the Falcons beat last season. Vera believes some early season momentum will pay big dividends as the Falcons enter into the heart of their schedule. "If we can get some confidence in the beginning of the season, the sky is the limit for this team. Our motto for this season is "trust the process". We have done that so far as a program, and if we continue to do so, this year will be an histroic one."

One of the players who has bought into that motto is senior guard Thomas Tucker. Tucker has seen himself flourish from a star on the Junior Varsity squad two years ago to being counted on as one of the leaders on this year's Varsity team. Tucker, who averaged 6 ppg. and shot over 40% from 3-point range last year, has spent the off-season improving in all areas of his game as he looks to lead the way for the Falcons in 2015-2016. Accompying Tucker are fellow seniors Hector Perdigon, one of the county's best spot up shooters, and 6'5" Camden Cook.

Vera is just as excited about his strong Junior class led up by SG Zane McKay, PG Peterson Coriolan, and SF Jaydon Randell. "They are all athletes who bring high moral character and strong work ethic to the team".

The Falcons will start their season at the Lake Worth Tip Off Classic on November 9. Some key early season matchups are Royal Palm Beach at home on December 1 and Dwyer at home on December 4. The road through the playoffs will begin with the District Quarterfinals at Palm Beach Lakes High School on February 2, 2016.
