De La Puente Qualifies for National Championships

Tallahassee, FL- All he wants to do is “put Forest Hill on the map”. Those were the words from Forest Hill junior running sensation Isaias De La Puente during his post-race interview with Florida Runners at the class 4A state cross country championships on Saturday. De La Puente finished the race in 3rd place just 5 seconds behind the winner Benjamin Hartvigsen from Sarasota High and just 0.5 seconds behind the runner-up Deshay Fernandes from Miami Columbus. After finishing 2nd in last year’s race as a sophomore, it may appear that De La Puente took a step back, but his time of 15:44 was 15 seconds faster than last year’s time and is his new personal best. Back 2 Back for De La Puente

Boca Raton, FL- Little was known about Forest Hill’s cross country sensation, Isaias De La Puente, at last year’s 2016 County Cross Country Championships. De La Peunte, then a sophomore, had only been running cross country for a little over a month when he came out of nowhere to win the county championship by just 4 seconds. Fast forward 1 year later, and not only is De La Puente well known in the county, but he is revered as one of the top runners in the state of Florida. Read the full story.

Dela Puente Soars to New Heights

Tallahassee, FL- If there was a “Rookie of the Year” award given to a cross country runner this year in the state of Florida, it would be hard to second guess selecting Forest Hill’s Isaias Dela Puente as the runaway favorite for the award. Dela Puente, a sophomore runner for the Falcons, ran the first meet of his life just a few weeks into the early season at South Fork High School back in September. Dela Puente caught the attention of everyone when he placed in the top 20 at the large meet with a time of 17:18 in the 5K. All Isaias did afterwards was blaze trails towards capturing a Palm Beach County Championship, District Championship, Regional Championship, and a State Championship. Read the full story.

De La Puente Flys Fastest at County Championships

Boca Raton, FL- Expectations were very high for Falcons sophomore Isaias De La Puente coming into the Palm Beach County Cross Country Championships, which were held this past Friday at South County Regional Park in Boca Raton, Florida. Puente had posted one of the best times in the county this season at an earlier meet at South County when he ripped off a 16:26 5K. That meet only had 3 other schools participating, while last week's county meet was represented by every high school in Palm Beach County. Running in front of a large group of Falcons students, parents, and coaches, De La Puente did not let the pressure of high expecations and intense competition get to him as he blazed to the finish line to claim the County Championship with a new personal best time of 16:20.
