Falcons Win 1st District Game

West Palm Beach, FL- The start of a new season always welcomes the return of fresh optimism. Fans and supporters surrounding the Forest Hill boys’ varsity basketball team were very excited leading up to Tuesday’s home game against the visiting district rival Boynton Beach Tigers. The Falcons decisive 16-point victory over the Tigers has put any doubts of the Falcons being for real to rest. After starting the season with wins at home over American Heritage and Coconut Creek and dominating the Falcons preseason Tip-off Tournament with blowout wins over Fort Pierce Westwood and Jupiter Christian, the Falcons faced a stiffer test with a Boynton Beach team that took 2 out of 3 games against the Falcons last season.

Led by senior Phillip Lyttle’s 24 points and 12 rebounds, the Falcons built at 39-21 halftime lead. The Tigers made a late 3rd quarter rally to pull within just 5 points, but sophomore guard Nick Whittick’s 3- point play push the lead back to 8 and put the Falcons back in control of the game. Senior forward Jalen Jackson’s 14 points and 11 rebounds helped the Falcons shut down the Boynton attack in the 4th quarter en route to a 69-53 statement victory in their first district game of the season.

The 3-0 Falcons look to make it 4 in a row this Saturday as they travel to Pahokee for a 7:00 pm tipoff. Stay tuned to the Falcons Zone for all the latest news and action from Forest Hill Basketball and don’t forget to follow Falcons Athletics on Twitter @TheFalconGrind.
